Welcome to the Tri-Lakes Area nestled along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains and located between Colorado Springs and Denver. The Tri-Lakes area is named for its three lakes in Woodmoor, Monument and Palmer Lake and includes a number of other communities in unincorporated El Paso County. We are approximately 20 miles north of Colorado Springs and 40 miles south of Denver.

The entire region from hilly grasslands to pine forests, magnificent mountains and lots of sunshine all contribute to an exceptional quality of life. We have approximately 250 days of sunshine, mild winters and temperate summers. Trails for horse back riding, hiking and biking are numerous. A sixteen mile stretch of the Santa Fe Trail extends from Palmer Lake to the south entrance of the Air Force Academy. The Greenland trailhead winds through rolling grasslands, past ponds, through oak scrublands and pines where fox and deer are frequently seen. Other outdoor activities include golf with four scenic golf courses and a spectacular view of the mountains.
The town of Monument at an elevation of 6,900 ft. maintains its small town atmosphere with unique shops and restaurants. Monument is named after Monument Rock, a majestic natural wonder located off Mount Herman Road. Numerous trails surrounding the rock are perfect for a casual forest stroll.
The Town of Palmer Lake, located 3 miles to the northwest of Monument is a quaint mountain town at an elevation of 7,000 ft. The lake was originally named Summit Lake, then Divide Lake and finally Palmer Lake. There is a walking trail along the shoreline and the beginning of the Santa Fe Regional Trail which follows the abandoned Atkinson, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad right of way. The Lucretia Vaile Museum, Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts, wonderful dining, scenery, hiking trails and a place for artistic inspiration are all part of the daily experiences of Palmer Lake.
One of the states most visited tourist attractions is The United States Air Force Academy. It is located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains just north of Colorado Springs, adjacent to Gleneagle and just south of the Monument-Palmer Lake area. The aerodynamic design of the Chapel with seventeen spires that reach 150 feet up towards the azure sky is the most prominent landmark at the academy.
The Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce sponsors many community events which include, Arbor Day Tree Planting, Kid’s Fishing Derby, Columbine Arts and Music Festival, 4th of July Street Fair, Tri-Lakes Golf Tournament, Health & Wellness Expo, Tri-Lakes Business Expo and the Railroad Festival. Our dedication to the community by providing these events and working together to build a healthy economy helps to retain the uniqueness of our environment.
