The Broadmoor Resort is one of only five 5-star resorts in the country. The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is one of the world's only mountainside zoos. There are 35 major museums and galleries in Colorado Springs. Let's not forget all of the world class skiing within a few hours of the town.

There are five military installations in the area. Fort Carson Army Base, The Air Force Academy, NORAD, Schriever, and Peterson Air Force Base, bring in a tremendous amount of revenue for the city. Tourism is the #3 industry.

Weather
Summer or winter, the weather in Colorado Springs is pleasant, averaging 247 dry sunny days a year. Living in a high altitude, low humidity elevation has health benefits as well. Allergy symptoms are alleviated for many.

Extremes in either summer or winter are rare. Because the Rocky Mountains capture most of the precipitation from east-moving storm systems, the Pikes Peak region has dry sunny weather most of the year. When a storm does come in, it usually lasts only a few hours. In the winter, snow generally melts by the next day.

The business community in Colorado Springs currently enjoys over 1,000 large businesses (primarily in the information and technology industry). Colorado Springs has been named as the number-two city for helping individuals become entrepreneurs.

El Paso County's Enterprise Zone offers state and local tax credits for new jobs, investment, and research and development expenditures. A description of the specific areas within which the benefits are offered is available from the Colorado Springs Economic Development Corporation.

The Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) Chapter 206 offers free counseling to individuals interested in starting or revitalizing a business. There is a wide range of experience among the individuals who counsel wanting to share their knowledge and experience with other business people.
